Penis Dentata (2026)
Enamel, acrylic
15 x 24 x 11 cm
Penis Dentata references Fountain (1917), Fountain, in which Marcel Duchamp presented a urinal as art.
A vintage enamel male urinal is painted in rough acrylic to resemble my own skin, transforming the readymade into something intimate and unsettling.
Its punk, protest-like finish evokes gestures of refusal and dissent. As a female artist inhabiting a male-coded object, I complicate its authorship and bodily associations.
Drawing on the myth of Vagina Dentata, the work shifts ideas of danger and vulnerability onto the male body, questioning how fear and power are culturally constructed.
